In the fall of 2008, the CCNY MFA Reading Series was formed by MFA alums and celebrated writers, Brendan Kiely and Jessie Chaffee. The reading series provides an opportunity for student writers in the Graduate English Department of City College to share their work and develop skills as public readers, alongside a headlining alum, professor, or special guest.
The reading series cultivates a safe, supportive, and all-inclusive space for all, while promoting enthusiasm and solidarity within the program, CCNY campus community, and the literary community at large.
The series is student curated – all members of the organization are currently attending the MFA in Creative Writing program at CCNY. All graduate students and alumni of the MFA and MA in Literature program are eligible to submit their work and participate in the series by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org. An Open Mic is held before every official reading event. It is open to everyone and highly encouraged.
If you would like to join the MFA Reading Series team, or stay up-to-date on our calls for submissions and events, please contact us.
